One name that resolves to proof.
A .nil name is an application namespace resolved by NIL33: jane-smith.nil → nil33.com/@jane-smith → did:web:nil33.com:athletes:jane-smith. It is allocated, not sold or minted; there is no token, nothing to trade, nothing moves.
Rules
Allocated, not sold
Names are issued to verified profiles after manual review. No fee is charged for the name itself.
No implied affiliation
A name cannot imply a school, league, team, athlete, or brand affiliation without evidence and approval. Exact legal-name and trademark conflicts get manual review.
Non-transferable
By default a name stays with the profile it was issued to. A verified athlete can reclaim an impersonating or inactive name.
Reserved
Leagues, schools, governing bodies, NIL33, UnyKorn, and major public entities are reserved.
Suspension
Suspension removes public resolution and keeps the audit trail. Consent withdrawal suspends the name.
Interoperability
A KYA-complete profile gets a signed verification assertion (ES256 JWS) and a did:web document; see the Verification API.
Verified by NIL33, not endorsed by a school, league, or governing body.
